The Nagra open reel digital machines are pretty much classics by this point. They preceded ADAT's, I believe, yet were far better quality, & their portability made them popular for location & foley recording. I seem to remember Ry Cooder using them - perhaps for \"Meeting by the River\"? - but that could be my memory playing tricks on me. Anyway, they're a good company with a long history of making good stuff.
