Need a ribbon cable for an older Magma chassis

I'm looking for an external ribbon cable to an older 32bit Magma chassis.
The cable is an 80 pin microcentronics (MC80) and the part name is CBL2PCI. It's a 3M branded connector.

Calls to Magma have been about as useless as tits on a boar hog. I spent the best part of yesterday trying to source one on the net with no luck. Any suggestions as to where to find one or how to build one would be welcome.

Thanks,

I had the same situation a year ago and got my replacement from Mgama. They don't make those belts any more but at the time had a couple in stock.I think it may be close to impossible to find the belt anywhere else.

I thought that the newer style belt also works, although at a steep price, but am not sure of this.

I think you may be out of luck. I bought a used Magma on Ebay several months ago, and it came with the wrong cable. I needed the same cable you are looking for now. I dealt directly with people from Magma, who assured me they had the proper cables, and they sent me the wrong ones, even after I emailed digital photos to them of the connections on my chassis & PCI card. I looked everywhere I could think of, to no avail. Luckily, with help from Ebay dispute council, the person whom I bought the chassis from agreed to take it back. I ended up buying a brand new chassis. :(

Hi Animix,

so finally you ended up in the Magma cable connector hell. This is my biggest fear what I have since I have got one of these excellent suckers and I can feel your pain - believe me! From the experts at the Nuendo forum I have gathered that this type of cable is end of life.

The only thing which I can consider is to get in contact with this specialised company to customise one of these stupid ribbon cables which may suit your needs @:

http://www.mycableshop.com/

A search through their site with the web option has brought this to light:

http://www.asanst.com/pciexpansion/options.htm

2. Expansion Cables (Purchased Separately)
Expansion cables are used between your host computer and the expansion chassis.

Model Number Description
ELK-CBL2PCI 2-foot ribbon PCI expansion cable
ELK-CBL2PCI 4-foot ribbon PCI expansion cable
ELK-CBL5PCI .5-meter round PCI expansion cable
ELK-CBL1PCI 1-meter round PCI expansion cable
ELK-CBL15PCI 1.5-meter round PCI expansion cable
They are advertising almost everything which you won’t get anywhere else and they have the option of customising what you may require. It shouldn’t be such a big deal if you have the wiring instructions from Magma to build one if you have the right connectors. 8)

Hope this helps! Please let me know.
