Need advice on new computer

The time has come to retire my old AMD 2.4 and belly up to a new system. I'm going to build it myself with help from a friend and was hoping I could get a few questions answered here. I'm running Cubase 4.1 and XP pro 32 bit

I need a MB with some pci slots ideally 4 but I could get by with 3. 2-uad cards and a RME HDSP 9652,I don't want to go with a magma chasis. I have read the uad setups thread here so I have done some homework and the MB I keep coming back to is the Asus Commando. I'll probably be going with a Q6600. Now for the questions:

What other MB options are there other than the Asus Commando for 3-4 pci slots?

I have 7200 rpm IDE drives and would rather not buy all new drives, will this be a problem? I'd like to run 3 ide drives

What ram would you recommend? I plan on going with 4-1gb sticks

What are some good reasonably priced dual monitor graphics cards? My thinking is lees is more since I'll only running music apps on this computer

The bottom line is I want to put together a good system but don't want to spend $$$ foolishly.

I'm also looking for suggestions on good quiet power supplys.

Any other tips appreciated.
