Hello,

I am receiving my second uad1e card tomorrow with a 1000$ voucher coupon.
I have already : LA2, Fairchild, Roland 201.

I will buy the neve 88rs for sure.

Then I have 700$ left.

I don t need mastering tools. I have already L3, L2 and the linmb collection from waves.

I am considering of buying the plate 140 wich sounds great...

Do you have any advices about one or two must-have uad plug ?

thank you in advance for helping

regards

ben

i wasn t very convinced by the bus compressor neve plugin when i tried it.
and the 1081 and 1073 sounded very much alike (?).

That s why i was more up for getting just a neve eq and save 250$.

The neve plugs (except the 88rs) take so much power from the dsp card as well.

Hopefully I ll get the chance to try again the neve bundle and change my mind.

Thanx for giving your opinions.
Waiting for more.

if i had 1000 and the plugs you have:

-Neve Bundle - 600
-Helios - 200
-1176LN - 150
-Plate 140 - 150

(plus 100 of your own cash for the last little bit)

then save money to buy the 88rs. Or wait for a promotion. I love the Neve plugs, that I wouldn't buy the 1073 alone...cuz then you cant get the bundle price. And the 33609 is the most gorgeous sounding plug in compressor ive ever heard. The 1081 on a rock kick drum...WOW, it's worth the price alone for just that purpose. And the 1073, well we all know how fantastic that piece can be.

if you absolutely must have the 88rs (and i get it, i love the damn thing too) then:

88rs-300
1176LN-150
Plate 140-150
Helios-200

and then save the last 200. try out the Neve Bundle demos. But really try them. if you decide you want two of the three, it's probably worth it to get the bundle. Save 400 of your hard earned dollars, and get the bundle . (yes i really love the Neve bundle, it's why I got a UAD-1 in the first place)

If you only like one of the three, get that one. (likely the 1073, but who knows.)

For $700 and what you already mentioned you have, I'd go with (in order of importance):

Neve 1073
LA-3A
Pultec EQ
Roland Dimension D

That'll leave you with $70 to spare, maybe match that from your pocket and add the 1176LN, or another $40 on top will get the Helios EQ.

thanx adl ...

what would u choose 1073 or 1081 ?

I can t buy both
1073 it's "tone control" 3 knob action, simple and great.
Especially because you said you're getting the 88rs, which will take care of the more detailed EQ jobs.

Well, you can't live without a LN1176. I can't remember what music sounds like without about five of those pumping away in the mix. The Cambridge is a nice all round EQ, but I've recently become a huge Neve fan. I bought the URS Neve, because of the high CPU usage of the UAD version. I've become addicted to that Neve top end boost. The Plate 140 is beautiful too. Ah, so much choice ...

LA-3A, 1176LN, 1081, Plate140?
+1
+2 .. That is a good selection to go with 88rs. I'd consider Helios as well too tho.
+3 Good choices, but I would probably swap the 1073 for the 1081.

I ll go for 88rs, plate 140, 1176ln and 1073 ... i will try the la3 demo and see how useful it could be to have it around.

but i guess i will have to choose between 1176 and la3

Hard choice! The 1176LN is a beast on drums. LA3A is a more transparent version of LA2A, very very nice on vocals and drums, too (but not as "mighty" as 1176 on drums).

Actually whatever you choose, you can do nothing wrong! You'll get it's complement anyway with another 149 bucks when time has come  ...or you'll get it almost for free within on of the next promotions.

hello,

according to your advices I finally chose :

neve RS88 : fantastic for everything that doesn t need to be \"very coloured\"

plate 140

1176LN : you were so right, I don t know how I have mixed without having that one around ::: unbelievable for drums abd bass and more

neve 1073 : olalalalala ! when I tried the demo 6 months ago I was not amazed but I must have been out of my mind...I have a lot of other eq brands and the uad 1073 is so efficient and easy to integrate in a mix ... in love.

thanx again for your advices ... and I still have 250$ left as a voucher ...
