Need tips on buying used Apollo devices

I already owned two Apollo devices, original owner. I want to experience buying pre-owned UA devices, and I've done some research.

This link https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/ar...To-Transfer-Ownership-of-UAD-2-Apollo-Devices states that, regarding buying second hand used device - Hardware only:

"…a transfer is not necessary. Any Apollo or Satellite hardware can be registered, and it will move out of your account automatically when it is registered to a different account."

I have no doubt that 99% of the transactions are legit, but with thousands of dollars involved, and recent laws permitting low value crimes not be prosecuted, we must protect ourselves.

My Questions are:

(1) is this still the latest policy

(2) After I fully paid the seller for the device, in person through Craiglists, Offer Up, or by mail thru Ebay, Amazon, what extra steps would you recommed I take, to prevent the seller from claiming that the device is still his….e.g He never authorized the sale, I stole it,. ., someone else stole his...He already refunded me but I did not return it etc. etc..

(3) When UAD say they will not get involve with disputes like this, assuming that i am able to register this used device (without plug-ins), will UAD reverse the transfer if the seller went back to UAD to file a complaint , as mentioned in item (2) ?

1. Yes, updated Tuesday.
2. Once it's in your possession, you're all set, minus them surrendering their licenses if applicable.
3. Ask Support for the definitive answer.
