need working mainboard for X2, UAD and PoCo

Hi guys!
I have been on an Asus A8V Deluxe for a while now, with a 7Slot Magma and 3 UAD-1 plus one Powercore MKII.
It works but hangs up about once per hour - the more I use the DSP cards, the sooner it crashes.

I want to change this but I do not want to get a full new pc. I want a cheap solution so I am thinking about grabbing one of the last Asrock 939 Dual Sata2 boards. As far as I have found this is the only one that works without hangups and crashes with an AMD X2, UAD and PoCo....

am I right or is there a better choice? (remember - I only wanna change the mobo...)

Thanks & rock on!

Just a thought, isn't the Magma chassis got issues. Could be needing an updated software package (the extension card) or perhaps altogether another issue.

I think I also read about the Gigabyte GA-K8U-939
Does anyone know if that one is compatible with Powercore MKII cards? I am pretty sure it works well with UAD-1...

And another BIG question!

I desperateley want to use the same System (with my installation of WinXP plus all programs and plugins) on the new mainboard. I once put my old HD on a new board with a new CPU (going from AMD Athlon to AMD X2) and it worked without any hassles.

So do I have a chance that Windows will just ask/look for the new MoboDrivers and that´s it?

Or will I face Windows troubles from hell?

AFAIK, the Gigabyte board should work fine with both PoCo/UAD. I have an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and it works with both, too, as long as I use my Magma (otherwise the UAD's are a no go).

Great Akis, thanks!
I have all my UADs and PoCo in a 7-Slot chassis.
Which MB out of the two would you recommend then? Any advantages/disadvantages? Is one a safer option regarding stability and compatibility?

btw I just looked for the Gigabyte board - nobody sells it anymore and it is not even on ebay...

the MSI exists in 2 versions, Neo2 platinum and Neo2 Platinum-54G
Maybe it is the same board, not sure...cannot find enough info on the net...
do you know which one you have, akis?

thanks!

...ok I solved the dilemma myself, the gigabyte is not available and I found a supercheap MSI in a shop and bought it. Man, I hope SO MUCH that it will work...our setups look very similar, so I really hope it´s gonna work!

Thanks & rock on!
