Do you think new interfaces are needed? What features would you want to see in a new series of Apollo (Z?) interfaces?

Let´s be frank, I have been using the first Apollo 16 (pale version) since 2013.
I was a great experience and for the time superfast with TB connection.
and DSP power. It really took the burdon of my 2012 MBP and made it a great mixing tool!
But even then I needed a headphone output. So I had to build one..
I was xtra happy about the Madi connection..which turned out to be empty...

If we jump 10+ years in time, the converters have been changed some op-amps and those xtra DSP and a Fcn/Alt...buttons
But its a sealed 19" gear.
Please, implement Dante or Madi connection and give me a headphone jack.
Take down half of the DSP if You need to. UAD is in a transition to Native plugins for the hole program aren't it?
So we can phase these out.
It could be a nice Apollo XT..

I don’t think DSP is going anywhere. I think they are just extending their plug-in market by offering native plugins.

My understanding is that the native plugins still have significant latency compared to the DSP versions.

Besides latency, I rely on DSP to keep working smoothly, and some plugins aren't available native now and might never be. I tested going 'all native' with plugins, but I couldn't do it without freezing tracks, and I found myself plugin shopping for the UAD-2 plugins that aren't native. If I have a few sampled drum kits and/or other heavy VI's in the session, fuggetaboutit. Of course, everyone's mileage might vary, and I tend to use heavier native plugins, VIs, etc.

A bigger FPGA is needed so that the Apollo can have better routing, more ARM paths, more cues, more auxes, etc. That's always been the Achilles heel of the Apollos.
This is what will make me upgrade from my silverface rack apollo. I’m not upgrading to an x8 to have less I/o in Luna than with console / pro tools

Same here. I'm not buying again until they release an Apollo with better routing. I'm hoping the new one, whenever it comes, accomplishes this.

Yelp. Waiting for the next releases. I bought 8p in November 2017 and they announced release of x series go to in September 2018. So. No sense in upgrading for me.

MADI. It’s 2024 already. Maybe a little more DSP firepower, too.

Same here. DSP still frees up resources and keeps the machine running smoothly.

unless it has a cowbell module connected to three 12AX7 tubes, and a cup holder, I'm out!
