New PC build not powering up with 2xUAD-1s (Antec HE PSU)

Hi chaps,

Just got my new A8V/X2/2xUAD-1 system running last night, but I've had problems getting the PC to boot up with the UAD-1s. Perhaps it is the Antec NeoHE PSU problem people are having - perhaps it can't cope with the extra current draw on boot up, but it coped just fine without the UAD-1s. Sometimes changing a PCI slot works, but then sometimes after powering down it won't power up again, so I don't think it's a case of defective PCI slots. Perhaps I ought to plump for a Seasonic or something instead, as it seems the Antec P150/NeoHE combo was too good to be true.

Anyone else experienced this? Did a PSU swap cure it? Any comment would be great, thanks.

First the Mia/A8V problem, then this... :?

How much current does a UAD-1 card draw? Are PCI slots drawing from the 5v rail? Apparently the ATX trend for newer PSUs is for lower current capacity on the 5v and 3.3v rails - might this be why my PC won't boot up with both UAD-1 cards in?

I've ordered a Seasonic S12 500W anyway, but it'd be nice to know if this was a case of not enough current, or if the PSU is just a duffer generally.

Edit: Just FYI, my current PSU that comes with the P150, the NeoHE has max currents of 22A and 14A on the 3.3V and 5V rails, compared to the Seasonic which has 30A on both. Now I don't know much about electronics, but this seems quite a difference.

All stock, no overclocking.

Hmmm, all I can say is I had a similar problem i.e. no boot, that was caused by the fact that I had 4Gb of RAM. Removing one stick solved it.
However, since the symptoms are the same, maybe it could point to a compatability issue with your ram? If you have another pc, you might try swapping just to check. You really can't exclude anything in these situations. It's just trial and error 'til it finally works.
Good luck anyway!
