Some of us started using LUNA as our main DAW 4 years ago this spring (with Drew being a significant factor in keeping us in the saddle)

Over the past 4 years it has grown by leaps and bounds.

Here‘s a new poll to find out how people are using it.

Feel free to post comments on why you voted the way you did.

Thanks for participating!

Do all my tracking with it and most of my mixing. Still use Logic for writing and PT for video/sound design or if I need additional functions like hardware I/O.

I don't use it at all because I will never buy an Apple product. As soon as UA finally does a Windows version, then I would definitely give it a go.

You did not list my choice: I use it only for mixing. I mix on nothing else.

It is not -- and likely never will be -- as good as other DAWs for writing/arranging with VST instruments and lotsa MIDI.

It will, but probably take 2 more years. Except if UA decide to focus development on it and release a BIG MIDI update after some month MIA.

I sometimes use it for tracking, and sometimes for mixing. The thing is, it's difficult for me to let go of Reaper's outstanding editing and comping work flow. For a while I have been tracking in Reaper, then exported the consolidated tracks into Luna. I just hate the hazzle, so then I usually stay in Reaper for mixing... But then I miss the summing and tape in Luna. I also have some minor gripes with Luna regarding how easy it is to botch something by mistake just by clicking in the all tracks toolbar (pleeeaaase, let that be an option). I also want to get rid of the beats/bars toolbar, but I can't for some reason.

Option 2 fits your profile.
Adding a comment as you did makes it clear why you didn’t choose #1. (y)

1. But I still use Pro Tools because clients still send me sessions this way for mixing. Once I receive the session I just export and import into Luna.
Love it, bro!

Maybe the poll needs another category... "It is my main DAW and I love it, but I check the forums everyday in hopes to see some news of the features I need..." :)
That’s what the comment section is for

I am coming up to exactly one year since I made Luna my main DAW ( coming from Pro Tools for most things and Logic for composition / creation ). The first couple of sessions took some work on my part, but the joy of working in a way that took me back to my analogue days and the absolute delight I discovered in quickly achieving a pleasing mix while still writing and building a composition, just made me realise, very quickly, that there was no going back. I have produced a ton of work in the past year that has been a real joy to work on thanks to Luna. I wouldn't be exaggerating to say that with the switch to Luna, I got back the excitement of going in everyday, getting everything fired up and getting to work.

Great to hear! Thanks for voting and the excellent comment 👌

LUNA is my primary DAW, I track all live instruments and vocals in LUNA and I mix in LUNA.
All MIDI related things I usually do in Cubase and bounce all virtual instruments to audio and import the audio files into LUNA.

I used to do everything in Logic Pro, but I haven‘t touched it for years - never really liked the workflow in Logic and its outdated GUI. Studio One 5 was not my cup of tea either.

Just to put my point of view into perspective: music is a hobby and leisure activity for me, I earn my money with a non-musical office job. That's why speed, for example, is not important to me; a great sounding end result is what I‘m going for.

You really think so? That would be great. But it just doesn't seem to be a MIDI focused app. Like Pro Tools -- I'd never try to do a bunch of MIDI on PT. There are just so many MIDI functions Luna does not have... Anyway, I'm glad I'm not in charge of developing software.

You like Cubase and call Logic an outdated GUI? I tried Cubase for a month solid and I just couldn't bear the 1990s Atari Computer interface. Can't resize windows, can't move 'em. And tiny little interface points. Talk about outdated!

But the main thing that I hated about Cubase were the bugs and lack of needed updates. I remember looking into one problem and saw that users have been complaining about that particular issue for DECADES! Internet posts went back to the late '90s about some of these issues that obviously Cubase was never going to fix! S1, on the other hand, is very modern and things get fixed.

I still start most projects in Logic Pro because I can draw and edit midi much faster. Then I transfer midi to Luna, where I feel like a happy puppy sleeping in front of a warm fire.
