I think there are 5 stages of grief. You forgot to include denial and, most importantly, acceptance :). I think if they were going to update it they would have done it with stomp. Apparently it’s the golden goose and doesn’t need to change.

I certainly don't wish to buy another OX Box. What features are you thinking of that they couldn't actually do on the original if they updated it?

I’ll never give UA another dime of my money after the abandonment of the OX. Yes, it still does what I bought it for, bugs and all, WIFI issues and all, but I had a reasonable expectation of SOME fixes. I’ll also decom My Apollo Quad soon as well as a result of my OX experience. I’m quite sure they don’t care.

Can't everything that needs fixing be done in software?

Yes. That was implied in “new version” in the title. The hardware is fine and dandy (y)

A Wi-Fi update of the OX app to work with triband routers seems like a no-brainer.

The block diagram of OX shows the WiFi module is also Bluetooth. Implementation of an existing Bluetooth module would be a great alternative to WiFi or USB.

It is. I also looked up the model number of it and it does in fact support Bluetooth, but they chose not to implement it.

And for some reason you think UA's is better at Bluetooth than WiFi??🤣

I think it’s about options. They don’t need to be mutually exclusive, if one doesn’t work you can try the other one. Also the WiFi card supports 5Ghz, not sure why we can’t have that either.

Indeed!

Should we all be filing support tickets to get UAD to do the right thing???

We should - only way to get UA focus on any issue. Submitted mine.

I'm all for options! Both the OX Box and Stomp have USB ports. UA has made us dependent on wireless protocols that need to function in environments with lots of electronic devices, prone to interference - which they attribute to being the source of any connectivity problems.

Yes ox has usb-a ports, but those are usually reserved for the device being the host. For example, that’s why we can connect a thumb drive with firmware to flash it. Usually (but not always), a usb-b would be used where the device is the peripheral. It seems they only ever intended it to be used to flash ox, which is what we have seen to date.

as for wireless, Bluetooth is probably harder to implement than 5ghz WiFi, just because the protocol and access method are different. It seems like as time goes on and we see less and less routers and devices that support 2.4ghz that we’d see it enabled on ox, but again who knows. It could solve some of the connectivity issues people have seen, which makes me think if it was “easy” to do that they would have already.

There are enough ready-made libraries for the protocol, I don't think UA has to reinvent the wheel.
Maybe it's a question of internal priorities, now all the power has been put into new pedals, lightweight, less hardware-dependent devices that reach a broad customer base per se due to their price.

It not only drops the connections, it never tries to reconnect to the network after a normal power cycle. That's not a spectrum issue.
