SD3 three pack: $349 or $129 for one.
SD5: $199
SD7: $149

Prices from Sweetwater.

That makes for a pretty darn affordable kit mic set!

We did a session where we double mic'ed a kit along side the "classics" and Hemisphere (even without the modeling) helded up VERY well and arguably "bested" them in many cases.

I plan to share some pics and files once I get done these vid shoots.

Here's a preview. This is Stagg Street Studios in LA.

Just saw our inter-company email about this from YLS Pro. Nice addition. Loving the design!

Excellent designs. What's the idea behind three different mics? Is it just for situations where modeling can't be used? Do they all sound the same once modeling is used?

They're each "tuned/designed" for use cases. You can get a feel for these on this page in their descriptions.

i´ve got a question. i own an apollo x16, no mic pres in this unit.
but i own a lot of good mic pres. daking, neve portico, BAE, CAPI, and lots more.

will this hemisphere modeling software work with this pramps, too?
and is it inserted in the unisone slots of console/LUNA, or just like a normal plugin? can i use it in logic?

Sure, it'll work with any "clean-ish" mic pre.

You can use it anywhere. In Console for monitoring or printing, or in the DAW afterwards

No three-pack for the SD-7? As the "tom mic" it would make sense that would be available here too.

Great feedback. We're looking closely as sales velocity at launch to gauge interest so we can evaluate things exactly like this.

I was dubious myself when I first heard about them. But if you look at post #3, the sounds from that session convinced me.

I hope to get them posted here this week.

Distributors and retailers are doing SD-3 3-pack bundles

I'm pretty much covered for overheads, snare and kick.... but those SD-7's are begging me to give them a home. These would really up my game! I've been wanting to complete my 421 collection but they are just so big to try and shoehorn into a full kit.

Think about it like Acustica's LAVA modeling system...LAVA wants to know what mic is your starting capture mic. They have a long list of starting mics that are popular, and in the software they tune each of those so whatever the destination mic sound for a 421, 441, U47, etc. will have the same results.

UA has just sold you the starting capture mic instead of working with an SM87 or whatever you already have.

If I were actually recording live drums, I’d be all over this. Well done.

Do you ever foresee them being available in black? I can think situations in which people who are picky about how things look (in other words, video producers and directors!) wouldn’t want white mics onstage. As a huge fan and user of the neat microphones bee series, I‘m not worried about how things look but I’ve had to not use the bee mics at times due to a director request.

I suspect they won't but I'd prefer charcoal or black myself.

We never say never, but there is no news to share at this time.

I'd submit Feedback inside UA Connect.
