New UAD hardware ?

i know UA look after this forum,

i know they hear that users need more powered hardware,

We all know that the futur plugin will use all power of one card (70 % for the neve comp )

i buy my last UAD-1 PCI card , one month before they sell UAD-1 PCIe card,

i dont contest the UA price's (but I'm not agree with the fact UA purpose to their customer to sell their PCI card to buy new PCie card, who want really this now, if i was a new user i prefer buy PCIe card)

now, I refuse to buy any other PCi or PCie card because i'm waiting the future UAD hardware (if it will a 4 mpact PCIe card, i will be satisfied, you see it's not difficult to give me enjoy).

I love trully UAD plugin, they sound trully good, but their hardware becomes completely obsolete,

UA please give us some news about new hardware,

Well, we all hope so too, but don't hold your breath!

We were bitching for YEARS and WHAT did we get? The SAME card, which is slightly smaller with an onboard bridge chip so it will do PCI-e!

Glad we're moving forward, but we all want to pick up the pace. :roll:

I haven't been bitching for years. I have 3 cards and for the amount I paid for these cards, the amount of $$$ the plugins go for when they are released and how good they sound, I'm happy.

I totally see where these guys are coming from, the plugins use up a lot of the cards' resources because they sound better than any native plugin I've tried (and I've tried quite a bit). I also find that when people complain, it's usually those who only own one or two cards. I've yet to hear from someone I know who owns 4 cards who realistically needs more than 4 cards to work, the one complain I do agree with is...let us use more cards! That way, when the next version of whatever comes out, we'll be able to run the plugins we've purchased in the past!

So for me, the processing power of each card, taking into consideration how much they cost, is fine - JUST LET US USE MORE CARDS IN OUR SYSTEMS!

I would add more cards but I don't have free pci slots and I won't pay $2000 for a new magma case. There are no second hand magma cases for sale where I live.

I have 7 cards in total... but per system 4 cards is way not enough... especially at 96k...... There are MANY like me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, I'm also using 4 cards and would like to see the limit raised. I haven't actually run out of juice yet but would like the extra headroom.

@MightyMike : As someone who is running two groups, I pressume you've had to pay for two licences for some/all of your plugs. How would you feel if UA were to drop the 4 card limit? This is one situation where I can imagine UA would have a legit reason for not raising the limits.

I don't think I'll buy another UAD plug in until they release modern hardware to run them. The UAD cards are so woefully underpowered it's a joke. Time to move on from the stone age!

4 cars here also...Would like to get 4 more, I run out of DSP power quite often these days... Maybe 8 would would be enough for me ...?

Also I hope that Steinberg makes a \"Freeze groups tracks\" option to Cubase & Nuendo some day...Along with rising the UA card limit, that would really help my life.

..and yet its still the most powerful dsp solution on the market. I too am still waiting for a more powerful dsp solution to come along, ive seen a lot of less powerful (cant work at 192k, cant deeply model) solutions.

after all this time theres still no comparable native models of the 1176 which is a comparably light plugin, youd think someone could have done it by now just to show off, but no, not even close.

I have no problems at all... If they were to raise it to 8 then I would probably still need more especially as alot of work is at 96k +...

UAD have been a great investment so I've have great returns so no problems there either. Also I don't expect anything to hold their value for long anymore!

So UA raise the limit!!

I'm a bit surprise to remark that many people love to bounce their track :lol:

if every new plug consume between 25 et 80 % of one DSP, it will be marvelous to have 4 cards that can run less than 10 instances of plugin (4 EQ and 3 comp for the neve for instance, 2-3 LA2A),

sorry but my project are more than 4 tracks, and i'm just a home made producer that do this for hobby,

we really need more power

I would prefer an external rack with a PCie card (for bandwith)

Because with the new mobo, its difficult to have 4 card, i dont want an external chassis,

UA coul imagine this, a PCIe or PCMCIA solution to connect a rack with more DSP,

if they want to keep tneir traditionnal hardware cool, but they have to think to the user taht want a more powerful and modern system.

Of course more power is needed, it's quite obvious also for UAD's people who develop and test the plugs. I'm sure they have worked on the last 4-5 plugs already testing them also on the new device they will launch in october.

I'd say an 8 chip card that costs 500 $ is ok...

If a certain Pentium processor cost ~150 $ six years ago, then we can now get a proc that's like 10 times more powerfull for the same amount of money.

Don't encourage 'em to charge outrageous prices........

I agree with you 100%. I'm very tempted to get eather the Neve eq or compressor but we do need a more powerful UAD card.
So I believe that my $50 coupon from UAudio will not be used in this situation. I've spent too much money on these plugins. I use them daily, Love the sound of them etc... , but need more powerful hardware. I have 2 UAD1 cards and my computer has so much stuff in it that I can't add another card, and there are times when I need more UAD1 juice.
