Hi, which surprise is the next release of Luna do you think? I can barely wait for it.

a UA controller for LUNA 🙏
Totally agree!! I use the SSL UF8, UF1, and UC1 and it's really great. But it doesn't seem like it's ever going to be integrated enough that you could control plugins or Luna console extensions completely, i.e. in ARM mode for tracking. I was excited about the SSL 360 Link technology that SSL recently announced. But it's a wrapper around the plugin that it controls, so (as far as I understand it) it'll never be able to control a Luna console extension and/or be available for a plugin in ARM mode.

I assume UAD has to be actively working on a dedicated controller for Luna - otherwise the whole console extension idea seems to fall on its face since you can never touch those controls like a real console. I understand that there's some ability to control those parameters from an SSL UF1, UF8, or Console1, but that has always seemed pretty janky to me and is certainly not a real console experience.

You can control API console from UF8, but it takes longer to get to those mapped functions for me than to just use a mouse. Agreed would love if UA would make their own control surface. Modular would be awesome to accommodate different virtual consoles (NEVE?)

combination of motorized faders knobs and multi-touch screen?
Nope, sorry I'm not a graphic designer. I mean I just want a nice hardware device to drive the API extension and if it's possible the other inserts.

I think @Pascal ODE won the design competition (deduction in the B grade from me because of too SSLlike)

I only need hardware inserts and a UA controller for LUNA 🙏
This, plus multichannel virtual instruments for drums.

still a bit bummed that atmos was a bigger priority than hardware sends. Atmos seems like a bit of a gimmick, and seems likely to always be a gimmick. The number of people who want to integrate a hardware reverb or master bus chain is waaay greater than the number of people who have a room with a bunch of speakers, for producing or consuming music.

Hello, the good thing about Atmos is that we don't "need" the entire set of speakers, fortunately, the binaural mode allows us to do the job without having it.

LUNA doesn't support Atmos. I did a vid showing how you can make it happen, but it's not supported/tested and part of the app. Just an FYI.

Yeah, no. Not IMO anyway. A cheap imitation of a gimmick is worse than the gimmick itself. Probably 99% of music is consumed in stereo. A significant majority of that is consumed on Spotify and/or YouTube which don’t even support atmos presently.

I’d be shocked if 5 years from now atmos music has gained even a moderate level of adoption. There have been a variety of efforts over the decades to introduce surround sound, hi def, etc (quad, 5.1, tidal, hi def portable audio players, etc.) and none of them have really broken through to the mainstream.

Yeah, no. Not IMO anyway.
I agree that Atmos binaural is NOTHING compared to Atmos on speakers.

I've done countless listening sessions with clients and friends and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was emotionally impacted by it on speakers. We're talking hairs standing up and tears in eyes.

Same people turn on Spatial Audio on their phone and are like huh????

So it's a completely different animal depending on the experience. But you're 100% right about its future being up in the air.
