nForce4 and PCI latency tools

I was wondering if anyone else running an nForce4 motherboard has any experience with PCI latency tools. I am using LtcyCfg but with my current Gigabyte board I only have the option to change latencies for UAD cards and the PCIe FireWire card. The reported values for all other devices are 000 and they can’t be altered, not even for the video card. So I am wondering if other nForce4 boards have this limitation also, or is it specific to this board.

Thanks,

Works great here with my Nforce 4. Using Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 nForce4.
Finnaly my Nforce 4 and UAD works. No problem with up to 98% cpu usage -No clicks&pops !!! :D Works also great in protools 7.0. Protools was inpossible to use with uad before pci latencey tools.. The cpu meter i protools is now using about 20% less after this fix.....

.mr chris,

Thanks for the suggestion, tried the latest version but it was actually a step backward as it doesn't even list the VGA controller at all (?). Version 1.02 I had been using before does at least that...

storm,

I have GA-K8N Ultra-9, not exactly the same, but close enough. Are you saying you can change all the settings, no probblem? Perhaps then then the problem lies with NF4 Ultra chipset. Or maybe it is specific to this board only.

To clarify things a bit, at this point I don't experience any big problems running my UADs, not since I switched to PreSonus FireBOX running on a PCI-e FW card, so that now the UADs are alone on the legacy PCI bus. Prior to that I ran the E-MU 1820m and couldn't get rid of the crackles running both UADs, no matter what I did. One card worked fine though. Interestingly, (and perhaps worth opening a separate topic), PCI bus load had little to do with it, I could run 64 plugins on one card with no problem, but only a few plugins on two cards would cause crackles. Go figure.

Anyway, as I said, right now the performance here is pretty solid, however, I do sometimes get host CPU spikes when UAD load is approching/overstepping 90% and host CPU load is also substantial, over 70%. So I thought lowering video card's PCI latency might help.

As I said, it doesn't work except for UAD and FW cards. I type in a new value, but nothing happens, it just stays at 000.
