Device out just means it's chosen as the system sound out.
I have checked what you suggested, but to no avail. Sad to see that more people, like psydeffectx, seem to have the same problem. Like psydeffectx, I haven't changed a thing on the Apollo or in my DAW settings, but all of a sudden things don't work anymore.
Did you default the I/O?
On my computer? I have sound via the Apollo when playing music from Logic or, say, Apples Music library or Spotify, but there's just no sound coming from the Apollo to Logic, or to the headphone outputs on the Apollo.
On Console's Settings
On UA Console? Yes, it is visibly selected, but there is no sound or signal coming into UA Console.

Yes, I have defaulted that, and double checked with the link you kindly sent me. Still no sound in the headphone output, no signal to UA Control, and no signal to Logic.
What does UA Meter app say?
I get a message that says "Driver not yet allowed". This comes up despite me having allowed UA Console, UA Connect, UAD Meter & Control Panel and UniversalControl to be updated; allowing apps from UA; and allowing UA Connect to open when logging in. UAD Meter & Control Panel is allowed to run in the background.
That is the issue. This is a very specific process that Apple requires.
I have done what you suggested, but the problem remains. I get a signal on the Apollo x4, but not signal to UAD Console, nothing on the meter - which I can now see - and no signal to Logic. Perhaps the most puzzling thing is that there is no sound to my headphones on the Apollo x4, even though I can see that there is input. What could I try next?
Can you post a pic of your security settings in Recovery Mode?
