No Sound from Google Chrome - Not working with x8p

Hi

I can't seem to get sound from Chrome and it's looking like it can't communicate with the x8p. I've ticked off a lot of trouble shooting options: restart app, restart computer, restart interface hardware, reset interface hardware, update apollo software, re install chrome app after deleting it and it's associated library files, checked audio / midi set up (all seems good), checked sound settings as instructed on the chrome help site (no sites are muted), app/tabs aren't muted..

I'm pretty sure it's the interface because when I set the outputs to play out of my mac studio chrome plays fine. Also - sound out of pro tools is coming out great, as is everything else on the computer for that matter (finder, music etc.). Any ideas on why the interface and the app might not be communicating?

Best,

Specs: mac studio (ventura 13.5)
M2 ultra

Check to make sure you haven't muted any tabs in chrome - that bit me once where audio from a videoconferencing app wouldn't play... Screenshot 2024-04-18 at 7.19.59 PM.png

There is another thread on this subject...

I've been sitting here for 3 fucking hours trying to get YouTube or anything audio from Chrome to play at all through my x8p. Safari works. Just not Chrome. I'm just completely dumbfounded.

Roll back to the previous version of Chrome. That's what I did. Google is aware of the issue. Rolling back resolved the issue.

Same here on my Imac. Everything works but Chrome. OS Ventura 13.6.6

Any news from Universal Audio? Any news?

Had the same problem. No audio out from Chrome & Brave, it worked normally on Safari.

Go to UA Concole settings - IO Matrix - and switch the number of Outputs back to the one you had before (-2). Seems like this bug came with UA Console update.

THIS WORKED!!!!

Mine was showing 32 inputs and 34 outputs for some reason, but once I switched the outputs to match the inputs at 32, sound started coming through chrome again! thanks a ton for the help

Yes, same here. Don't forget to save/overwrite that I/O preset, otherwise you'll have 34 outputs again. :)

Just confirming this solved this issue for me too -- new Console says 32 inputs/34 outputs. Just change the Output to 32, then go to the I/O preset and save as "my default" or something like that

Changing the number of outputs in Console to less than 32 worked for me, but not for others I think this is a Chrome issue, not a UAD issue.

Legend! Fixed it for me too. Why is this happening @UniversalAudio ?
