Interesting noise problem solved on G5 and MOTU DP4.
After tediously troubleshooting exactly where I was getting noise from with my new UAD Project Pack, it turns out that it is the LEVEL of the plugins themselves that were doing it. I didn't think it would be the plugin aux that was doing this since I was ONLY getting noise on the RIGHT CHANNEL (very strange, indeed!). I first ruled out my analog mixer by bypassing the signal straight into the amp. Then switched speaker sets, with same results. Then just monitored straight out of the 424. Bumped up the buffer to 1024, Still NOISE! Went back to the actual original song files with the UAD plugins BYPASSED. NO NOISE. It seems these plugins boost a level of gain that is very hard to see on your DAW's meters, but it is there, especially the Pultec Pro. I believe it is because of the added midrange warmth. I found this to be true using the spectrum analyser in Firium, an excellent eq plugin I use. I remixed these offending song files and made sure all levels were below 0 DB and limited with the Masterworks Limiter and dithered and low and behold, NO NOISE on bounces and playbacks.
I'm adding my 2 cents here since I see many people here are struggling with this issue on many different DAWS. I too had tried the \"fixes\" and the real fix FOR ME was simply paying much better attention to LEVEL.
