Non linear reverb

Anyone know if there are presets or possibilities in any Uad-1 verbs? I can't find any. Or any recommendations for that in a plug-in?

Thanks,

Ricky B

Thanks RW. I looked through them and have downloaded, but find nothing that 'syas' it's a non-linear verb. Do you know which they are?

Thanks,

Unfortunatly I can't tell you if they fall or not in that category (like the T.C. NonLin2 Stereo Effects Reverb). Still that all of the UA verbs are using complex algos to simulate many aspect around the purpose. I think that if at least one of the algo can perform a kind of random controlled algorithmic calculation; his impact within any others algo will lead to a kind of non-linearity. But again, maybe I'm wrong, and someone else here will maybe enlighted your question...

UA's Dreamverb is pretty non-linear in comparison to the other associated effects like this. However failing that there is Spinaudio Roomverb M2 in native format which is pretty good and allows for lots of tweakibility. Next to this, you can always try a plug-in which loads Convolution reverbs (at the expense of offline software processing).

Thanks, Fundy

I just remember how easy it was to dial up with the old outboard units for drums. I'm not an engineer so I shy from tweaking to a degree. May be that \"it's time to go forth and tweak young man\"!

Would be nice if the UAD family made some non-linear kids now, eh?

I must admit my TC Electronic Powercore Megaverb seems to have a bit of an edge over the Dreamverb sonically, even though it has less controls. Dreamverb though does allow you morph different impulses together so can create unique ambiences.

Good luck on your quest for finding the right reverb.

Even with tweaking, I haven't gotten the UAD reverbs to sound like a good Nonlin. You'll be better off trying convolution or the TC NonLin2.

i've been looking for this for ages, and was driven to experiment with DV by making some bright, increasing reverb ramps with short times. I managed to get an ams rmx16 style sound (Bright and snappy), but this is far from a real non linear verb unfortunately.

In summary try:

Keep density high
I got close to the RMX style sound by using metalic surface materials, I think.
Keep a lot of HF energy, which doesn't decay
Use short reverb times
Don't let the ramp fade
Very little predelay.

Sorry - this is from memory as i'm not in the studio right now so can't check the settings.
