Use whatever setting works best for your particular hardware. You can click the Reset button to set it to the factory default, which works best with most hardware that we have tried. The M-Audio hardware has historically been among the more finicky audio hardware that we've tested with. One of the reasons this setting was added in the first place was back in the OS 9 days, we had lots of problems with the Delta 1010, which was kind of a PCI bus hog. Reducing the MIN_GNT setting fixed the problem.
