i could load it - but it´s strange - only 2 hours to go and it´s no longer 1 of june.... why don´t they put it up there when they announce it... it is working after all? i reloaded the UA page a 1000 times today - waiting for an announcement or any change ....
Well anyhow the Neve is great can´t wait for the bus compressor...

Hmmmm..........I'm going to wait until the *official* release I guess. I'd rather die than load the demo and then it expires before I have a chance to use it.

tried 1073 too... fantastic :p . I can't believe it. It seems to sound so warm. I hope this early impression will not pass cause It is so good. nothing to compare with URS to my little ears...
Funny ...I find them quite similar at the moment . Even at extreme settings a guitar track I was using . I'm going to have to some more comparisons but so far I don't think I'm going to buy especially when the URS don't demand alot of CPU

Neve timing?

In the past, UA has generally released in the late afternoon or evening in California, Pacific Standard Time or right now it is to be pedantic, actually Pacific Daylight Time.

So for those in Europe, it's only 4.43PM in California right now! Could be anytime in the next few hours...

Well thanks to you forum members and this thread! I now have a new bitch to demo...............

It seems more musical that the URS N and I keep screwing up because the LF and HF seem reversed as compared to the URS

I hope UAD will put it up for sale now before the demo expires and at a good price for us loyal users...............

Maybe someone could post a link to a \"mirror\" for dl'ing 4.3, since it's after close of business now in CA without a new link. I'm pretty annoyed by that, considering they said 6/1.

The plug is amazing, i didn't had chance to hear a real 1073 so I can't compare, but this EQ is very good. I tried it on a bass and on some drums, it brings life to the tracks like i never heard before. The SE version is real close to the original (after all it's upsampling so i guess it will affect sources with a lot of high freq.), I'll too probably use it (due to its low CPU charge), and then switch to the original and freeze the tracks before mixdown. Congrats UA for this new baby.
You know... this brings up an interesting idea.

It would be nice, if UA let the SE version be a switch on just a single plugin. I mean combine the full version and the SE version so you can switch over to high quality when you mix down. Because I think your plan to substitute the big guns for mix down will not be as easy as it sounds.

Ya know that's a great idea! :)

very useful indeed.

Although I have to ask .... Where are you gonna get the extra DSP for mixdown from?

I still think it's a great idea though. :)

LOL... you got a point there.

Actually I just mixed a project down with 147% UAD1 cpu... it sounds... umm really wierd.. all kinda of UFO sounding stuff.

This begs a stragely unanswered question for me. What happens if you DO try to mix down over 100% CPU... not in realtime...

***edit
The UFO sound might have come from stacked Plate 140 plugins.

I just tried it with a bunch of pultec pros and at a glance it works. 140%CPU.

I dont mean to hijack the thread...

Maybe later I will try more. But does anyone know what happens?

It would be kinda like the \"Auto\" mode for Voxengo plug-ins--they use \"good\" quality while mixing, and then automatically switch to \"high\" quality when rendering. It would be nice if the UAD-1 could do the same.

In theory non-real time export should work DSP wise. Just take longer that's all.

Maybe it's the memory on the UAD cards that's being overloaded and causing weirdness.

What doese the UAD system info say about memory usage when you go over 100% ??

VST host need to give us offline export options that can handle more plugins than CPU and DSP card can handle in real time. Maybe applying plugin processing 1 by 1 offline while writing to a temporary hard disk file like batch processing.

Hey, guys,

The difference in sound between the 1073 and the 1073 SE is not nearly as great as the difference between the 1176 and its SE version. It sounds REALLY good!

8) I suggest you just use the SE for most individual tracks without worrying about it. Then use the full version for the master bus, and maybe for the most out front solos.

That should keep your cards and your ears happy!

I agree, when comparing the 1073 & 1073SE, they are really close. I am glad that UA included both the upsampled and non-upsampled versions, as a bundle.

That was my thinking, as well.

Haven't grabbed the update yet. Anyone think the Neve plug has a place in a mastering chain? Seems ill-suited on the face of it, but if it's truly that sweet... seems like it could be nice for shelving tasks.

I was wondering this myself. I usually have the cambridge with a B6 rolloff at 30hz on my master buss. Wonder how the neve might add "sheen" to the mix there, and maybe a roll-off at 45hz? It's a little higher up, but probably a shallower slope.
