Hi Y'all - Analog boomer here with a question. I'm having trouble with a new laptop and existing Apollo Solo USB. No issues whatsoever on my previous laptop, so I'm pretty sure it lies with Win11 settings, or my DAW/Sound Forge Pro 17. It seems that periodically, SF records glitches ranging from vowel warbles to clicks/pops, but because I'm monitoring what's going TO the DAW, I can't catch these problems. Since I'm doing field recordings in remote places and often get only 1 shot at audio capture, you can imagine the frustration when I get back to edit. (The reasons I don't use my Zoom F8 are many, and I can't afford a Sound Devices unit!)
In the analog days, you could periodically engage the playback head on your tape deck to check and make sure all was golden going to tape. Is there any way to similarly monitor the audio that has just been written to disk so that I don't get ugly surprises when I get back to base camp to edit? It seems my only choice is to monitor what's coming into the Apollo, or what's going into the DAW, and not after the disk writes the data.
Enlighten the old guy in the dark, all you young keen minds.
