Outboard Apollo/Logic routing question

Hi,
I've got some analog gear that I use on my master bus. It's a simple setup. The entire mix goes out my x6 Apollo, through the analog stuff and and back in. Works great. I'm thinking about getting another piece of outboard gear to use specifically on my drum bus. My question is this.. is it possible to run the drum bus out to analog gear using the i/o plugin, bring it back into Logic and route the result of that out to my master bus chain without having to print the drum bus? Will logic figure out all the latency to make that work or will I have to print the drum bus through the outboard gear before running it through the outboard masterbus chain?

Thanks,
Aaron.

Sure, Logic can figure all of that out. Just make sure you're using the i/o plugin's "PING" feature - that's how Logic calculates the latency. As long as you have enough I/O on your interface, it's totally cool.

The only thing that can be of concern (if any) is that having lots of DA to AD conversions can sometime degrade the overall signal. I wouldn't really worry about that too much though.

Maybe this will help?
