Owner of a real 1178 has question

Hi, I buyed a real UREI 1178 peak limiter, in order to have a comparison to the plugin version. The plugin is very good, believe me. My problem on the real one is a nerving noise comming from the VU-Meter or Display maybe from the power supply. My question: is that normal?

theres some noise thats normal. On the 1176ln the ln stands for low noise, which is not the same as NO noise.

however if its really loud it might not be the same thing. better have a tech look at it.

On the hardware 1176's (the ones that plug in, not the plug-in!), make sure you leave the VU meter set to GR (gain reduction). The +4 and +8 level settings can introduce some subtle distortion because the rectifier diodes aren't buffered. The GR setting takes the diodes out of the circuit.

The plug-in does not emulate this behavior (nor does it emulate the noise and power line hum).

The 1178 is a Dual Peak Limiter If I recall. I used one for 10 years.

There was normal light bulb buzz but not noise coming from signal path. Great Unit wish somone would model it.

you misunderstood me. sorry

There is no noise coming from the signal path it´s the VU-Meter himself or the light from the VU-Meter creating the noise. It´s quite loud so i can´t concentrate on my music.

Is that normal, some displays bleep but this one is too loud for me!

What can i do?
