Hey there !
I'm using LuLu for tracking as a firewall because I like to know who comes on my computer... for what purpose and what they get from me without any kind of agrement: since I've updated to Apolo 11.1.0, I noticed an alert form LuLu :

Message : "Console is trying to connect to https://o244530.ingest.sentry.io/api/6161336/envelope/
Process path : /Applications/Universal Audio/Console.app
This is a Google IP adress

Does any one has an idea about this new feature?
Regards

Sentry is a monitoring tool. It will reports when there are network connectivity issues. I’m using this tool for some time for front end monitoring. But can be used for various things; but all for monitoring purposes.
Basically; if a fader stops working in the console app, UA could act upon it when they released a new update and able to generate a new fix whenever this happens proactively.

So not used for user behaviour tracking (can, but wont be effective and too expensive; knowing their plans).

Hope it helps.

Do not know but I received 4 emails regarding updating their privacy policy, which apparently doesnt offer much privacy at all. I have a question: if I block all outgoing traffic to UA, can I still use UADx and how much of my browsing history can they then get (and sell) if I allow them in to update only?

There are two different things there. I haven’t investigated uadx. They do need to connect I guess. At least the update/license application, I assume. Not sure if it works when disconnecting.

Regarding browsing history, that’s a totally different thing. It’s a usa based company, but when you are dealing with EU customers, from what I know, you should be able to opt out. Still, there are plethora of ways to be tracked and be private. But it really depends how savvy the implementation is; both ways.

I’ve written many tracking scripts in my career, and for sure, you can be very careful and thoughtful. But on lower traffic sites, or using user input/data to match, that can be suddenly less private.

I would say, that whenever you use a digital product, you can never be sure. Masking location is one thing, and it’s a big part, but when you are logged in, it’s absolute nonsense to mask location. You may actually only draw more attention and become the odd one out that does the contrary of what one wants to achieve.

If UADx is be able to use offline; do that, unplug the cable, and browse on a different device. Don’t log in,… but I don’t think that’s productive 😅
