Following Dave Bourke's suggestion, I decided to start this thread where each forum member that wants UA to develop a chainer plug-in will have to post with their name and e-mail address, the latter in a format that will not attract spambots, i.e. akisd28 (at) yahoo (dot) gr
For those who don't know what a chainer plug-in is: Currently, for each UAD plug-in you insert in a channel in your DAW, the audio for that channel has to travel to the UAD-1 and back, resulting to added latency equal to 2 times the latency of your audio interface. For example, if the latency of your audio interface is set at 6ms, inserting a UAD plug-in in your project will increase that to 18ms (6+6+6). Now, if you insert another plug-in routed in series with previous one, the added latency will double, as the audio will have to travel to the UAD-1 and back first for the first plug-in and then again for the second. Imagine having 5 of them in a row...
What a chainer plug-in would do is this: opening just one plug-in interface in your DAW's mixer, you could open as many UAD plug-ins as you'd like inside that plug-in, with the audio having to travel to the UAD-1 and back just once, thus keeping the latency low. This is a brief way to explain it, as I'm no programmer and therefore not fully aware of the technical difficulties. It must be said, though, that UA has commented in the past that 'it's not a priority', without saying it's impossible. So, let's see how many of you would like it to become a priority...
