Plate 140 and Mid-Side Microphone Technique

Hi,
I'm doing some tests recording my guitar and using the mid-side technique. Now, doing that and using the Plate as send I found that playing only the side channels, the sound still dry! Reading the pdf I found nothing saying that in stereo mode the input still mono while the output is stereo.
Is that true or something is wrong here?
