Hi all,
a simple brickwall limiter along the lines of the Waves L1 / L2 would be my biggest wish, the GUI is so perfectly intuitive that they make a great tool to insert in groups and masters as temporary protection from clipping while working. They wouldn't even have to be Hi End for me, low CPU and the (similar to Waves) GUI are more important since I'd get rid of them before the final mix anyway.
Just my personal preference ...

so those that are saying other plugins first..what plugins would you like to see?
I personally would like to see a multi band compressor

done in the typical kick A$$ Ua style ! anything for mastering in general

I think should be top priority . It would be nice to get some of that old

school feel back in music and mastering is the way to do it IMO

also the emt reverbs looks good guys

maybe some kind of tube emulation ?

a tape echo would be cool

a mid side decoder / encoder if their are any classic ones to emulation

( sorry but i dont know if there are )

No the idea of the chainer is to chain plugins on the card so that it only makes one trip to and back through the PCI buss...instead of having to go in and out for every insert. I think that was what was discussed anyway...there is a big thread on this on the old forum, I am awaiting for the DNS to work to point to the new site...hopefully soon.

Have you tried Elephant from Voxengo?

yes, jcat, thanks, I tried it . It sounds fine and is priced really fair.
I just don't like the GUI near as much as the L1/L2 .
The idea of putting the sliders next to the meters ( the little triangles) and having input / gain reduction / output metering is pure genius.
If they didn't want 300 $ for the L1 alone I'd buy it on the spot, but not at that price and not with Pace. I'm not interested in other Waves plugins, so ...
How cool would it be if UA offered such a plug ?
Still hoping ...

We need a chainer first. Been waiting on this a while. Actually, I see the chainer as a must have and any new plugins as something seperate. So we could have both, but we need that chainer now.

I voted \"other plugins first\" because I don't work with a huge number of tracks, and I'm not running into massive DSP limits with the card. I know others are, and I know I'll get there eventually, so yeah... I'd like to see a chainer at some point. But first, I'd like to see a Lexicon reverb emulator. Then I could stop thinking about buying a Powercore!

Well, I replied that I want to see the chainer first, but I would also really ove to see a convolving reverb. From what I hear however, there will be about 4 more plugs due out this year, and none of them will be a convolving reverb. Something about it taking too much of the processor...

What plug is it that you would like to see before a chainer? IMO Nothing trumps the undithered I/O between UAD plugs and the cut down latency of a chainer for running multiple UAD plugs in series.

Who...

Who is voting \"Yes, but i would like to see other plugins first\"??? Why would someone vote this way? These must be people who don't understand what a chainer is or what the benefits are...

well seems like people cant have an opinion

hmmmm ?

sorry I dont agree with you but although it is needed

More plugins ITHINK should be top priority

and is what will bring more customers and

help support UA in the long run there by

securing our investment in them

8)

A chainer plug in could possibly improve the overall functionality of the UAD platform. having 8 plugs in a channel take only one buffer cycle to process the audio is a HUGE selling point for the UAD-1. Yes new plugs might interest a few more customers, but if the UAD-1 actually works BETTER by allowing it to be used as a live input processor with small buffer sizes, not having to have a host app adjust so much for all the UAD plugs across the project, perhaps making UAD-1 more stable and an easier load on the PCI Bus and don't forget that there are still DAW apps that don't have Delay Compensation and would benefit from smaller latency hit when adding UAD plugs.

The concept of a Chainer plug in is definitely something that could make life much easier, but of course this is all theoretical, since we don't really know how well this would work, or if UA can even do it. I'd like to see them try tho.

Are You Nuts?

How could anything be better than a FREE plugin that could reduce latency, reduce PCI bandwidth, reduce CPU usage, maintain a 64bit audio path between multiple UAD-1 plugins, and possibly even reduce DSP usage a bit...?!?!?!

We are talking about a free plugin that would make the UAD-1:
- Faster
- More Effecient
- More Reliable
- More Stable with multiple UAD-1 cards
- Sound Better
- And More!

And on top of this... it would be easier to write than a complex new plugin. After all, it's just a plugin chainer... nothing complex. Their is no reason a chainer and a new plugin (or \"plugin's\") could not be released at the same time.

A chainer would help you more than anything else and you don't even know it. ](*,)

Dan, why are you not using your old login. According to your posts your a new member. It's a shame to bring you're post count down to 3...

You should just be able to use the forgotten password feature to get a new pass (the old ones couldn't be imported here).

Cheers,

The chainer plug-in is definitely needed, but it lacks the sexy new plug-in appeal for new customers. This is almost an \"expected feature\" for someone \"not in the know\", or it is a problem that most of them would not have considered before buying.

New plug-ins can generate more interest, better new advertising, and obviously more revenue.

For us experienced users, it has to be #1, but that does not make it #1 from UA's perspective.

As good a company as they are, they are in the business to make money, and I find it hard to belive that they will see this as a money maker, and it will have to take a back seat when resources are limited.

Sad, but true...
