Pro Tools latency problems

there are 3 popular solutions

1- to physically Move the track or \" nudge \" Back the apropriate Number of samples

To view the number of samples that the track Is being delayed Alt click Or apple click ( I dont remember exactly ) The number bar at bottom of track I suggest keeping Tracks consolidated And or keeping a raw session file

2- to use delay comps on all tracks
This solution varies mostly on the naitive cpu I suspect and track numbers

3 - to use delay comps on 1 buss
sending everything that is not being processed by the uad 1 To the buss

with this solution You may want 2 busses if you have tracks being processed by the uad but the number of plugins vary there fore the lastency varies

Or maybe more simple to put the delay comp on the lesser tracks to bring them to equal latency as the highest track

Oh And I must say the new update 3.6 and VST2 rtas 1.07

Is a lot better , Using it in withg the last method Has open doors for me using a sp 1 ghz g4

Also My buffer setting Is 1024 audio buffer minimium 85 % cpu

the delay comps do work

You need to set them to the number of plugins you are running

Pro Tools LE does not support automatic delay compensation. In order to compensate for the latency introduced by the plug-ins, use the included UAD Delay Comp plug-in. This plug-in allows you to easily shift tracks without UAD-1 plug-ins on them to line up with the tracks with UAD-1 plug-ins.

mid way down you will find out how to:
http://www.uaudio.com/webzine/may/content/content5.html

But I thought 6.4 added plug delay compensation.

No delay comp on 6.4 for LE users Or mix

Only HD has delay comp

I am setting the delay comp to the number of plugs. Do I have to do it through an aux or sumthing? Is there a way to turn on delay comp?
You by now have figured out that the delay comp goes on the tracks with out the plugins on them

I Made this obvious in the post above whcih clearly states 3 ways to compensate for latency

Start off with something simple Since You are having trouble

What do you record guitars vox ?

If so start out with 2 instruments mute the rest

what you do is say you want to tweak the vox Id suggest you solo it

and add a LA2A or 1176 and a pultec or a cambridge afterwards

So you pick One compressor and one EQ thats 2 plugins on the vox

Now what you do is set up A delay comp on the guitar track and set it to

2 plugins

When you get this down Hold down alt when adding the delay comp and it

will appear on all tracks for this reason I suggest using the last insert

for dely comps and the top inserts for effects So you can seperate and

work with them easily .

Now when you get that read above about using busses

what this does is realy cut down on the number of delay comps used and

at the same time gives more cpu power

Yeah, to echo some of the above posts, it helps to have dedicated busses for tracks that need one, two or three units of delay compensation.
