problem about firewire interface performance

hi this problem is starting to bugs me.... more and more now...
i'm on XP3200 with ASUS a7n8x 1G DDR... not a slow system
with motu896 i can't get a clickless playback when my CPU reach 80% at 13ms and 17ms, fine at 23ms
not pops but... only clicks... and it gets worse when i'm tweaking the GUI on the software with mouse, where as my Echo PCI card works perfectly at 13ms at 90%CPU load
i have tried various firewire cards in differnt PCI slots on my mobo, NEC as stated on motu website it isn't compatible i know that and i have treid it myself. the only one i havn't tried is the TI FW chip sets, will TI improve the performance? or my problem isn't a problem with my system but a common difficulity for most firewire interfaces?

TI FW seems to have he best performance wih motu FW interface but uses about 5% more CPU than Echo PCI at the same latency
i got a TI FW and the clicks are gone at 13ms but GUIs gets really slushy and slow at 75~80%CPU load

Greetings

- what is your GFX card?
- have you checked your PCI-latencies?
- what OS? with SP2? did you do the MS 1394 fix/ RME tips?

Cheers,

1394 fix/ RME tips?
my video card is fine ati9200, with 400MHz DAC for 2D which i think... no other cards can get anybetter i might wrong
winxp sp2
PCI latency at 0 which i find it to run the smoothest
thank for the concering... but i think with good driver, PCI base will always be more efficient @_.@

it's funny, only TI FW works okay with Motu firewrie ,but is there any FW interface thats very CPU effiecent? will run fine with motherbaord's FW without the need of extra pci slot for TI FW card?
and clickless at 13ms latency/high CPU load?
RME Fireface as CPU efficent as multiface?
echo firewire as CPU efficent as echo PCIs?
