Problems with my UA 2-610er Mic Preamp Please Help.

Hello UA- Team.
I have a problem with my 2-610er Mic PreAmp.
when i try to record loud guitars with my cmv 563 Tube Mics, the Amplifier gets a signal that is too hot.. so the output is a distorted signal.
i think its because there is no pad -20db switch on it. so please, what else can i do to reduce the volume of the incoming mic signal.
thx for your help,

mr. stopper, vienna.

I hope you get an answer to your problem, mr. stopper. However, I'll just point out:

a). If you look up at the top of this web-page you'll see \"Universal Audio Powered Plugin Forums.\" Obviously, your preamp is not a powered plugin.

b). These forums are not run by UA. Rather, they're run by a UAD-1 user and fan for other UAD-1 users and fans. It's true that UA personnel DO look in here and offer assistance from time to time but they do so only as a courtesy.

You would be much better off to address your question directly to technical support at UA via email:

hardwaresupport@uaudio.com

Good luck!

Kind regards.

Are you using the higher impedance on the mic selector switch (I think 2k?) This should help compensate for the hot, buffered output from those mics... I just picked up a solo/610, very similar mic pre -- pretty much any condeser I've plugged into it will easily overload the pre when set to the low impedance setting...

Have you tried using the -15DB pad on the front channel?

I have a solo 610 and they are not designed to take very loud signals like that. You need to buy a simple -15 -20 DB pad connector from one of the online retailers.
