Pultec pro redundant to Pultec basic?

Im demoing the Pultec pro. It seems as if the controls are redunant to the basic pultic with theexeption of a few mid band...

Do you even need the bottom eq on the pro unit?

It was a long time ago but there was some deal, i think we got the pultec free or something and they couldve released the mid section as a seperate piece of gear but thatd be inconvenient for mxing and latency issues so they made it one combined unit.

Usually, I use the Pro, utilising both units.
Same here.

In fact i never use the normal version anymore. I didn't really use the normal version much before the pro came out either.

Well, I'm using the standard one mainly, as it's controls seem to be enough for \"shaping\" a sound the typical Pultec way...

I'm another \"basic\" Pultec user, and I like very much the way it sounds even starting with presets, it adds a nice flavour to almost everything. What are the \"pro\" add-ons useful for? And which are your other favourite software \"magic sounding\" eqs (talking about UAD)? thanks

me and myself use *both* depends on \"material\" HTH, .c

Could you be more specific about "materials"? thanks
He probably means whether or not the source he is working on needs adjustments to the mid and low-mid frequencies. The basic Pultec just isn't designed to handle these frequencies so in many cases the Pultec Pro or another EQ altogether is needed.

Do you really need the bottom Pultec if the top has pretty much the same parameters? Why would you need both...
Obviously I am missing the point..
Thanks.

Sadly, left this world before his time.

Errr... the bottom unit does not have the same parameters. :?

Try boosting the 5khz with the top unit v.s. the bottom. You can't get the same result from both, even when the bottom has the \"narrow~wide\" knob.

Also, you can't cut below 200hz with the top unit, let along adding the 100hz or 60hz.
