Recurring Error

I keep getting the same error in Cubase SX 2:

Powered Plug-Ins Error
Sorry, one or more Powered Plug-Ins have been disabled
The UAD-1 is not responding

I installed the latest version, this happened with the previous one (3.7) also. I am using a dual 2.5 G5 and an MHlabs 2882 Mobile I/O. And I have repaired permissions.

This happens usually after about 15 minutes of use. It just comes up, sometimes when the track is playing, sometimes when it's not.

The only thing that fixes this is rebooting the computer. If I just restart cubase the problem is immediate.

Please help!

try reseating the pci card

I have found this to help in similar situations

This is something we see more on G5s and is one of the things we are working on. As mersis said, try physically reseating the card, and while you are in there, check for dust/dirt around or in the PCI slot, if so, blow it off with some compressed air. It also can't hurt to *gently* with a *clean* cloth wipe the contacts of the UAD-1 card itself.

Thanks guys, I'll try what you suggest.

One thing that I have noticed is that it only happens on particular songs. Some songs, this never has happened to me even once on, while others it's like clockwork.

thanks

Hello,

Same thing happening here on a 2.0 G5 and reseating the card hasnt cured the problem.
However, reseting the drivers from the UAD driver utility seems to be the solution on my system. Since reseting I worked for 5 hours without having the card crash, so I wouldnt say this is an exhaustive test but its worth the try.

Sorry,

What I suggested earlier about reseting the drivers doesnt actually work, the card still crashes. I'm quite desperate as we are mixing down a project which took 7 months to record and at the crucial moment we cant the UAD!!

There has to be some solution on this, please somebody HEEELP!!!

Have any of you noticed that it only happens on particular songs? I have certain songs that it always happens on - every 10 - 15 minutes. I have other songs that it never happens on. - Anybody?

I'm wondering if it has something to do with the amount of instances of a particular plugin. - I don't know but somehow it just feels that way. Possibly the LA-2A or 1176LN.

Anybody not using these and still have the problem?

I maybe completely wrong about this, but it's just a thought...

Yes!

At one point I thought it might be just happening on projects I'd started in (Cubase) SX2 and continued working on in SX3, but it seems people are getting this in other DAW apps so that seems unlikely. I'd love to be able to help nailing this one down as it's my only hiccup with the UAD-1 and it's a major PITA when it kicks in.

Hi guys,
Do you all typically work with the UAD-1 Meter running at the same time? If you are not running it, do you get these errors as frequently? Thanks.

I would normally have the meter open more often than not. Would working with the meter app open or without it help more in tracking down this problem?

I'm just curious. The Meter is another thing accessing the card, so I'm curious as to it's affects both running and not running on reproducing this error.

Strangely this describes a problem I have on the PC exactly. Same message about not responding (on the pc I get Err=21 I think) Only happens with some songs. Usually happens after a certain amount of time. Machine has to be rebooted for the card to be useable again. SEEMS to me to have somthing to do with combinations of certain plugins and maybe latency compensation, but I am not sure.

Strange the it is so similar across platforms.

I never use the meter.

Have you guys been able to produce this on your machines at all?

I have cleaned the card, used compressed air on it and the computer, and reseated the card - the problem still persists. I also tried different pci slots.

Any more suggestions?

I really want to help UA get this solved -

Is there anyone here with a G5 that doesn't have this problem?

Are you UA people able to duplicate this on your machines? It would really make me feel better if I knew that you were on to something...

thanks
