Regarding UAD DSP and Native processing

Hello and thank you for your time to help me.

I am considering entering UAD ecosystem. I want to clear up some confusion that I have been dealing with.

I know Apollo device lets me track latency free with UAD plugins using the internal DSP. Great! I wish to track a single instrument only and a few plugins a DUO unit enables is fine.

However, can I run the same UAD plugins on my Native CPU when I mix, to load up more instances of the plugins? Or am I limited to Apollos or Satellite DSP for all UAD plugins by design?

Is UAD DSP used only when plugins are loaded in Console and when plugins are loaded in DAW then they run Natively on my ARM processor which I hope will not run out of power after 5 plugins unlike the DUOs internal DSP?

I hope you understand what I want to understand.
Thank you.

Welcome!!!

46 of our plugins come in both UAD2 DSP and UADx native formats. You can see the list here:

So, yes, you can use the DSP plugins in Console for low latency tracking and the natives that run on your CPU for mixing.

Thank you for your reply.
How? Is this process automatic?
Do I need to buy the plugins that are included with Apollo hardware separately so they would work natively aswell?
What else should I know regarding this process, that I may have not included in my question because of my lack of understanding?

Thank you.

When you buy an Apollo, depending on the which unit, it will come with DSP and possibly some native plugins.

DSP are handled with the UAD Installer and the UA Meter app that is installed with it. https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360057641051-Get-Started-with-Apollo-Twin

Native plugs are handled by UA Connect. https://help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/13178401374612-Getting-Started-with-UA-Connect
