I am thinking about buying a used UAD-1 card. How do I make sure to get the plug-ins I’ve been promised?
If you are a potential buyer of a used UAD-1 card, please verify with the seller that he is willing to give up all his plug-ins before completing the transaction. We can’t be responsible for policing which plug-ins were promised and which plug-ins were actually delivered. Therefore the UAD-1 resale and transfer policy is ALL OR NONE. Unless the seller contacts UA with your details and instructs us to transfer all of his plug-ins to you, assume that you are purchasing a UAD-1 Project Pak with no additional plug-ins. In order to use this card, you’ll need to register with us at my.uaudio.com and then download the latest UAD-1 software for your OS version along with the plug-in authorization files. You can then buy additional plug-ins at my.uaudio.com whenever you need.

It's not that complex. Basically the seller needs to contact UAD and let them know he's transferring his rights to you.
After that the procedure is pretty much the same as if you'd bought a new card.
Don't be frightened. UAD has the best online registration/authorization management of any software company in this or any other galaxy.
Save your fear for dealing with Waves or TC............

Hopi's right.. It's a breeze! I've bought two off different people on ebay and it was no problem at all!!
When the UA staff post in this forum, they always make it clear - Hopi is not one of them and I'm not either. UA has indeed one of the best support departments in the industry. Basically, what the quote from the FAQ posted above says is that the seller has to make clear to them if he's selling his plug-in licenses along with the card or not. Everything else will be easily sorted out for you by them, as long as the seller gives them all the necessary info.

And for the record, I'm not a UA employee either!! Almost 29 years at Bellsouth as an Electronic Tech.. 18 months away from retiring too!! Then I can devote my full attention to this 'Hobby' of mine!! :wink:
