RME Soundcard creating noise through mixer/speakers

I switched to a Dual 2.5Ghz G5 from my Dual 1Ghz G4. I am hearing noise - harddrive working - digital syncing, etc. - in my speakers now. I get no noise when the card is out of the computer.

When I looked at Total Mix, the input channel's meters were fluctutating - the numbers at the top of the strip - between 99.96 and 99.75 at a constant tempo. A 'beep' coincides with every time the numbers fluctuate. VERY annoying! It doesn't matter whether my converter is on or not. Nothing seems to affect this, and it is showing up on the meters for the analog inputs, which I never use.

I tried switching slots, no good.

So, is there a solution to this? Or is it time for a new interface? I only need 8 outs and a great digital in. I really like the sound of the RME, maybe it's just too old to be compatable witht the new G5.

Thanks for any input, MATT
