Anyone hear anything off until I can get to the studio to listen
Yes, what would you like to know?
The main guitar is a bit fizzy. For me personally, the mix would be a bit too bright to harsh. In combination with the overall distortion, I find it a bit tiring to listen to. The song could be a bit more restrained and mixed with more belly and beef. For my taste.
As it is, the song is cool and well sung.

Have you been sitting on it for too long?
You won't hear it anymore, so take a break and leave it for a day or two - that often helps.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve pulled a lot of fizz out of the guitars, I guess I probably need to move to a multiband compressor to get some more.
They weren’t well recorded to begin with but it’s what I got to work with. There’s not much of low end in the guitar tracks as well, I had to high pass them pretty good because it’s all rumble.
The meat of the sound is pretty much only coming from the bass guitar.

I’ve only worked on it today but I had to do all the editing and mixing on headphones for the last 5-6 hours, so definitely fatigued.

Well done. I enjoyed the mix, even through my Mac Studio Display speakers....ws

Hello. I am guessing that what Hotspot was referring to with regards to the fizzy main guitar in my opinion the distortion on the guitar doesn't sound like natural amp distortion. It actually sounds like the kind of distortion that is associated with clipping (which is impossible to un-clip) and it is that clipping that is tiresome for the listener. In context This kind of thing wouldn't be as bad if it only occurred at the very loudest parts of the song , however the guitar part is at the beginning of the song ,before crescendos
keep in mind that this is really nitpicking, but I am assuming that you are looking for constructive criticism.
having said that. I really like the song and the performance is great. Sounds like you are on your way! :)

Not clipping, but the guitar player wanted to use an old combo amp he had (some type of Fender if I remember correctly). I liked the tone itself but the amp was super harsh sounding. I wanted to swap it out with something else but that's what he wanted to use unfortunately. If you heard the track before any processing you wouldn't believe how much hi-end is in this track. I've cut out a LOT. Almost done with the track, got super busy with other projects and holiday stuff but will probably upload the new mix after Christmas.
It does sound better, probably about as good as it's going to get. Thanks for the feedback!

I’m probably in the minority but the “harsh top end” on the guitar doesn’t really bug me at all.
*Caveat … I’m 61 and have been playing electric guitar in bands since 1973. There’s every possibility that I don’t even hear it:LOL:

I'll post a raw file vs the edited one later which you can obviously tell the top harsh end. This one doesn't bother me as much, but I do still hear it. The more you take out the more dull it gets though. I've been experimenting with a couple things.
I'm 42 and do have some loss of high end mainly due to blasting 15" subs in my car as a teen and playing live music over the years. I think last time I checked I couldn't hear past 16 Khz which isn't too bad for my age but I know it's all downhill from here. lol

Actually, that fits the job quite well.
Put a 1073 on it and saturate a little?
Perhaps a little more distance would have been worth a try. You could even add a bit of room at this stage too to smooth it out.
It's just a shame that the guitar is a bit fizzy, as it's prominent at the beginning.
But the mix has become good in the meantime. The song anyway!

Thanks, will give that a try. I still have a few tricks up my sleeve that I'm experimenting on. Luckily, the other song we did used my Splawn amp and doesn't have that super fizzy tone to it.
