Totally wild-ass question:
Does anyone see a need to use room tone snippets at all?
By that I mean, I've been thinking of recording room tone and placing that in the spaces -between- clips (eg. in vocal tracks).
I typically clip out the dead air between verses to avoid any rattles and coughs.
But, I've been noticing that on really quiet voice/piano style tunes, it seems that the sound goes a bit -flat- in those spaces. Yes, even with reverb and not overdoing compression.
I'm thinking that simply pasting some silent room tone in those empty spots might be just the thing.
Stupid ass idea or what?
