My good friend wrote this song some years ago and we recorded it in someone’s studio in 2015. It never made it to the CD though, mainly because the drums where uninspired and the tempo was fluctuating. So it got stowed away on my harddrive; drums, bass and vocals only.
When I bought the Ruby ’63 & Dream ’65 pedals this fall I decided to try them on this song.
The new native SSL strip and bus compressor came in handy and there are lots of UA plugins all over. The mix was done with my Brauer template in Cubase.
I play all of the guitars and a Vox organ VSTi. Telecaster with Don Mare pickups through the Ruby, left and right. 335 through the Dream on the solo. Stereo out from the pedals and Helios ’69 in Unison in my Apollo x8p. The Room effect in Ruby is really great!
I find that the pedals deliver quite much high treble, when it comes to the Dream it sounds a bit unnatural since guitar amp speakers don’t give much above 7 kHz.
So I used UA Pultec to cut quite low on the lo pass to make the guitar not sound so obviously lined.
Meet Veronica.
