Shipping costs from US to UK?

Hello to you all. Im looking to purchase a UAD-1 card and have noticed the massive price difference between the UK an US. The Ultra Pak is £200 cheaper if i buy from the US (ive noticed that JRR shop has been recommended?)

My question is how long it takes to ship and how much import tax will i have to pay? I notice a few UK users have bought from the US. Is is still a great deal after the tax has been paid?

Any info would be great.

Ask Erik from JRRshop for a quote and do mention that your a uad forum member, you get a discount. But put simply it´s fast and cheap!

I have purchased two UADs from Erik. Great service and quick delivery (several days. In fact I once ordered something on Friday night UK time and the item was with me Monday morning!)

When you order using the online ordering service often comes up with a much higher delivery charge but just email them and it will be adjusted.

additional costs paid are VAT and import duty of approx £13

i can add my vote for jjr shop - very quick delivery (i have 2 uad's), and buying from usa def. works out cheaper, even with import tax etc....

Im from the UK & bought a UAD-1 from Jrr.shop too , i saved money however my FeDex bill was £35 not the £10 folks had been telling me.

Its still very much worth your while even if fedex do sting you

I've had lots of stuff from the US. Sometimes it's a lot less, sometimes only a little less, but it's always less.

Plus, there have been occasions when (smaller, usually) items seem to slip through without getting hit with VAT and or Duty. It's always worth asking the vendor to put a low value on the package, as well.

I've bought a alot of hardware from there as well as my UAD's... Service is great and prices are far far better... especially the more you spend!! To be honest even German companies are better priced than UK

Be mindful of import tax but it's still better priced.

Rip Off Britain still exists...

I' also very interested in getting a card from Eric's store but am a little wary as I'm not sure about all the added cost involved with shipping...import duty...VAT and so forth.

Does anyone know exactly how to work it all out so I can work out how much I'm actually going to be paying?

I've tried negotiating the Customs and Excise website (UK)... :? EEEEEk!!...no fun...(or answers)

I'd love some info on this as well as I'll have the money to do it very soon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had a small issue with FedEx (after the delivery). They charged me additional tax and duty after delivering. Allthough a small amount (around $15) but a hassle, as they're using Banktransfer only, which means a lot of hassle in Japan, where cash and credit card are the normal way of paying something.
This is the first time, I ever encountered such a behaviour. May I suggest EMS for delivery? It's much cheaper (only 50$ for most of my orders in US- which are much bigger/heavier than an UAD-1 card), as fast as FedEx and more userfriendly when it comes to money collecting (if there is any duty to be paid, you can do it right away at the door).
And you can propose a delivery time before an unsuccesful try.
