LUNA's "alternate window" feature is not Edit/Mix. You can have 2 Mixes or 2 Edits for example.
So they're, by design, independent of each other.
Except that they are not
completely independent of each other, which can be truly confusing, and frustrating, and in some cases, kind of catastrophic. A couple examples:
* if you have a group of tracks selected only on the main (timeline) page, and you move a fader on the alternate (mix) page, only that fader moves. If you enter a numeric value for the fader (which I do often) all the faders for that group (selected on the other "independent" page) move. This causes me about 50 expletives/undos per day, and is definitely a bug.
* if you have a group of tracks selected only on the main page, and you add/remove/change an insert on the alternate page, it adds/removes/changes ALL the inserts in that slot for all the tracks selected on the main page. (!) If you don't notice this happening soon enough to undo, (and have made, say, 50 more moves/edits since then) it can really, really screw up your mix bad. Speaking from experience.
This issue is compounded by how easy it is to select all tracks in the Timeline page by clicking on the Tracks bar at the top of the page, which I do often to place the playhead.
I'm using Luna to mix a full record for the first time at present. I very much dig it in almost every way, but this screwy behavior has caused me a
lot of grief. (also comping needs big improvement, but that's another thread).
Yes I have of course reported this using the LUNA feedback, but am reporting it here in case it can unconfuse anyone else, and also in hopes that it might help the issue get kicked up the support chain...
