side chaining issues

watched 2 or 3 videos on side chaining in LUNA... all looks good. Compressing two acoustic guitars using the signal from the lead vocal using the LUNA side chain method. The only compressor that I can get to do the job here is the API 2500.... Tried at least 5 other compressors. Including a Waves compressor, a Fabfilter comp and 3 UAD compressors. Oddly the fab filter C2 was not greyed out in the selector area and also in the plugin itself I was able to assign the side chain channel but the compressor was not using the side chain signal.... anybody out there doing any side chaining in LUNA?

I can set up API 2500 (UADx version) and Pro-C as side-chain.

For Pro-C, make sure EXT side chain is selected in the SIDE CHAIN options (bottom of plugin).
