Hello all and Happy New Year!
I've just started some research into upgrading my current setup and am looking to move to a Dual-Core AMD chip (or two) from my Intel P4 I have now.
Basically I want enough horsepower that I won't have to upgrade for a while, and was looking at the socket 939 and 940 motherboards.
Are the 940 mobo's the only ones that support Dual-Processor/Dual-core (quad)? I figure if so, I could buy the mobo and one Dual-Core chip, then toss in another a month or so down the road.
Are there other major differences between these socket types?
I also have a couple of UAD-1 cards and will be using my RME Fireface as the interface.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for all the help,
Matt
