Sorry - noob question about Sphere LX and Reaper

I just received a Sphere LX mic and I'm super excited about it. I recorded a few sample tracks yesterday to do some comparing. I use Reaper as my DAW and I have Focusrite Scarlett 6i6. I used the two mic pres on the Scarlett for channels one and two. No problems there. In Reaper, as I normally do, I recorded the front and rear to separate tracks, not to separate sides of a stereo pair.

Question: I should be able to just use the plug-in normally on a parent track (that is, a bus track) for the two individual tracks and panning the individual tracks hard L and R - correct?

I can import the audio into a stereo track easily enough, but ... just wondered if the plug would function the same when using it on a bus. Thanks.

Sure, you can do that.

I may jump in as experienced Reaper user and original Sphere L22 owner.

The best way (and results) would be if you record your Sphere LX to regular stereo track in Reaper.
Because you record front and back capsule signal, you will see that one side of recorded track is lower. That's back capsule signal and perfectly normal.

All you have to do is insert Sphere plugin on that track, choose your mic model and go from there. That's the easiest and bulletproof way.

Inserting Sphere plugin on a bus as you desribed will work of course, but you may accidentally mess up the signal with extensive Reaper routing options. No need for that. I'd keep bus tracks inserts for other things.

Hope this helps, cheers!
