Sphere plug-in multitrack, linearity.

If one is double tracking vocals with the exact same setup -- mic position, singer, etc. -- can one sum the recorded L/R tracks from the mic and run them through a single instance of the plug-in rather than using one instance for each take? I'd assume this is the wrong way to do things, vs. using an instance of the plug-in per take, but it allows changing the model for all the takes at once very easily. The mic is a Townsend L22 (Sphere DLX), but I expect a general answer is useful.

You can do this.

nice! I never thought of doing that.
edit: I guess a counterpoint to this would be having 2 tracks with different mics for double-tracking could be useful too. At least that's what I do :)

I think I missed something, I thought the OP was asking if they could sum 2 or more vocal tracks (I assumed via bus) and use the plugin on the bus. I think what you are showing in the video is capturing the dry signal and processing it after?

which DAW are you using? in some DAWs you can link channels, including insert plugins, if you do that, you just adjust one instance of a plugin and all the linked channels follow accordingly.
this works also great for amp sims ;)

yes, but you can route as many tracks back through the VCs as you like, thereby processing ALL your BGVs with one instance. :)
