Stream Deck Noob Questions

After seeing the raves here about the SD, I went and purchased one.

I have a few basic questions that are bugging me. I use the standard Mac hot keys to navigate. While my muscle memory is trained on the keyboard, I am hoping that when I'm focusing on the SD that I can place a few of my often used hotkey actions on the bottom of a few of my SD menus. For the life of me I can't get this thing to command-tab to switch between apps. The SD simply won't recognize this.

Another thing I'm curious about is that it implies in the SD tutorial you can set a default profile and then you can setup profiles to trigger when launching specific programs. I grabbed Rodd's two SD profiles and set one up to trigger the Luna app when Luna is launched. When I launch Luna, nothing happens. I have both a default profile and Rodd's profile setup how SD tells you to do it, yet nothing. Is this a Luna app bug, or am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for any pointers. I have the 2+ unit I believe, i.e. 15 front panel buttons, if that makes a difference.

I'm not sure about the switching. What I use mine for mainly is having the commands (especially 3 or more) with a simple button push. Like in Luna, plugs open/close, mixer, etc. Open and hotkey are the ones I use the most.

i wonder if you would have to assign 2 sd buttons for that one….since one is held while the other cycles through what’s available to be opened…?

it would be just as easy to just have it on the regular keyboard….(?)

That's what I'd think, but I'm pretty sure SD does this with multi or something like that. I've never used that myself.

That would be a HARD no ;) SD is indispensable for key commands here. Some things I still use, like "x" in Logic for the mixer. But in Luna it's two keys, just way easier to have it on the SD and hit one button.

One other thing I wanted to bring up, it's possible that the OP might be obliged to think about Keyboard Maestro, you can do much more with that and still assign it to the SD.

Yes. But if my hand is on the SD, I wanted that option. Their tech support handled it. Basically you have to go to the down arrow to the right of the key input and hold down the modifer key as you select the tab key (or whichever the second keystroke is). But yeah. I’m being lazy here. 😉

Getting my feet wet first. After seeing what Quint is doing it is on my radar. I’m almost scared to go down that rabbit hole. I may never find time to play music.

I wouldn't call it lazy, lazy is what the SD was made for! :ROFLMAO:
