If mixes and presets are talking to you, perhaps you should get out of the studio for a few hours. If while taking a stroll in the park, dogs and cats should start talking to you too... well, can't help you there.MASSIVE Mastering said:You should do what the mix tells you to do. well... instead, he should quickly get back to the studio AND stay there for a couple of years waiting after his gear & computer screen to tell him something that we, humble mortals, couldn't simply never hear...dt said:If mixes and presets are talking to you, perhaps you should get out of the studio for a few hours. Not true entirely...on some classic boxes they do. ...but as a general rule....presets never work.Plec said:Oh my! FYI... Presets never work! Presets never work! Presets never work! I have had this argument before. There are 2 good reasons for presets:Cat5 said:Not true entirely...on some classic boxes they do. ...but as a general rule....presets never work.Plec said:Oh my! WHy do they include presets with these plugins anyway?
You are a PRO! So I'm not surprise that presets are not your cup of tea! To my own concern, I don't really care about the preset's name, except at first if there is a category. Since I have too a strong idea about what I want to hear (like most of people I think), I found usefull at first to parse different presets because I learn as much when it sound bad than good. In either way I can try to catch why the sound is less good or better. It's also a nice way to be surprise (or lucky!) to get something interesting for which I would maybe never think or even dare to try.MASSIVE Mastering said:When I listen to something, I know what I want to hear.
