Surround Output Designation Question

Hey All,

Possibly a stupid question, can you change the designation of the apollo outputs for surround monitoring? Using an 8XP; I have my 5.1 surrounds going from the Line Out DSUB for 5.1 monitoring, however, in a surround configuration it wants to see the Mon L/R 1/4 outputs designated as the L and R, instead of using the 1 and 2 from the line outs as the L and R.
Can this be changed or do you just have to adapt to the 1/4 output.

Thanks for your time.

You cannot. It's all fixed in the driver.

I have a similar issue with an x16 trying to output dolby to my Grace monitor controller. You have to use MON outs for L/R and then your DB25 starts with channel 1 being the center channel. It was a total pain in the ass to try to make this work with my grace monitor controller that expected the L channel to be channel 1 on the DB25. I have a pair of analog xlr inputs on the grace but if I use it the Grace shuts OFF channel 1 and 2 on the db25 as they are relayed together. Ended up running my Apollo monitor outs through my Pulse 16 and going in digital to the grace so channels 1 and 2 would still be enabled and it works.

Anyway it would be really cool if in future interfaces ALL outputs were configurable and not fixed.

You can swap them in the analog domain, or put them in a patchbay.

I agree one plan was to make a custom cables if I had to. Just thinking that soft configurable outputs in future hardware releases would be nice :D
