Sweetwater Glitch

I’m not trying to ruin the fun here but is UA aware that people are getting licenses to all 80-something plugins for $199.50 via the current “Sweetwater Glitch?” The reason I ask is because I’d love to take advantage of it if it’s intentional and UA is cool with it. If not, I’m not down to try and “take advantage” much less because I’d rather not risk $200 on this kind of gamble.

So yeah, if I can get an ok from UA then I’ll buy in and you have my money. If not, I hope you honor these purchases anyway.

Glitch or not, unless I’m missing something, ultimate upgrades are only available at sweetwater, can’t seem to find this product at plugin boutique or European resellers like thomann?

I glanced over the reddit thread. I see people say they got codes, but did anyone actually say they got the code, entered it into iLok and actually got the plugins?

iLok licence upgrades work by searching for and surrendering the licenses to be replaced. If they are not there, the code will not work.

But wouldn't put it past that this was a glitch. Last week, I kept getting an offer for a second U12 license (I already own the plugs) for $199. Now it's back to the correct $1,199 price.

Go to your UA account and click on U12 the bundle, then scroll down and click "own previous version of plugin" to see your online discount through UA.

Seems like there is a new glitch every few days. Kinda getting bizarre at this point

Idk whether they’re actually getting access in their daw. They just keep saying “it worked”.

When I bought the $250 upgrade via SW they sent me a code that I used to reedem the plugins on the UA website. Some people in the Reddit thread are describing the same process so it seems like the glitch is still glitching

Yeah. That “glitch” was the subject of much discussion over at a well known audio online forum and apparently a lot of people were able to get licenses without owning the prerequisite bundle.

Seems UA knows their system is broken. This isn’t a SW glitch, it has to do with the codes being issued working no matter what you buy, which to me feels scummy and honestly kinda shitty. That coupled with the growing complaints in wait times, the poor answers from both support and Drew (“if it works do it” isn’t the answer of a functioning company, sorry) just make it all feel very Pro Tools HD post iLok crack. If you’re too young to know what that means, and many of you newcomers are, when the iLok finally failed back in 2009, owners of PTHD learned that their track counts were actually software locked even though Digidesign was like “no you can only unlock more track counts by buying expensive hardware cards”. Sound familiar? I guess it’s all cyclical

Yeah well y’all wouldn’t throw no money my way if I needed it, would you?

Can’t be a rat if you were never affiliated. Besides that, there’s no honor among thieves. If this was legit marketing from UA, I’d gladly have partaken.

However my cracking/thieving days are behind me. If they’re not behind you and you wanna judge me for it then that’s a badge of honor in my book.

I think they were just joking. You’re not the one to discover it, in fact all this happened about a month ago already once through Sweetwater and tons of us were there to draw full attention to it, with it never being solved.
If anything it shouldn’t ever have to get so messy that someone needs to point it out, it just simply should have been managed properly by a company that puts quality over profit (lol I know)

Indeed it is a glitch. These deals are supposed to be done after SW verifies the account contents. Making them public makes this impossible, hence they've been shut down. Problem solved.

Also, when I say "if it works you can do it", is exactly the correct answer for users in these moments. I will never begrudge a user taking advantage of a mess up. Stuff happens as they say, and if the "little guy" can get one over on "the man", so be it. ;)
