switching off ua-plugs under logic

i am looking for a solution to quickly switch off my uad-plugs under logic 7.1 (on a mac g5). the reason is the latency; sometimes i have alot of plugs in the channels as well as in the busses, but i still wanna add some audio instruments-tracks for example. then i have to switch the plugs off to \"be in time\" again. if i switch them off from within uad-meter they always turn automatically back on after starting the sequencer again. any ideas?
thanks alot,
lars.

Just option click on them on the channel strip or in the Track Mixer.

of course this is a way to do it. but can take some time if you have many of those plugs open. any other idea?
thanks anyway

yes right - is there something like a general off switch for uad - in case you need to rerecord something and UAD latency is too much?

AFAIK no. However re: 'some time" I just tried it and I was able to turn off 16 in 30 seconds so maybe our expectations of how long it should take to do tasks are getting unrealistic.

or is it possible to unload the cards in the configuration menu? What i the on off switch on the uad meter for?

yea the big switch on the UAD-1 DSP meter turns off processing. i use it all the time. works fine in DP...it's great cause i can hear how crappy a mix would sound without my UAD-1 cards in seconds!

thats what i thought - but does it also remove the latency of the unused plugins in DP?

...wow thats fast
but a switch would be better, because bypassing the plugs on busses doesn't remove latency in logic.

it doesnt cause tracks to shift in DP no....

in DP, even a bypassed plug introduces latency, that the ADC then corrects. I can hit the UAD-1 off/on button during playback, and tracks keep time. What i cant do is add a new plug while DP is playing back, i have to stop and restart the transport for DP to get the ADC right.

Yes it does.

yes it does, but only if u set pdc to 'audiotrack and instruments', not if u set it to 'all'. but this means u have to use the delaycomp plug-in on each other bus with no or less uad plugs.

For the life of me, I cannot get the plugins to turn off with the On/Off buttton in the UAD-1 DSP Performance Meter. Every time I restart playback, the plugins are turned back on even though the button says \"Off\". If I turn them off during playback, there are turned back on as soon as I stop/restart playback. This is killing me as I need to add a new track to an existing mix.

Can't you just turn off software monitoring and turn on the direct input monitoring in your sound card's interface?

Not if you're trying to monitor a soft-synth.
