The Diet of Only 6 Sends per Channel with Console 1 MkIII

Getting my head around workflow with the improved Softube Console 1 MkIII and now expanded Six Send Knob controls per channel.

The thought of fingers and eyes only on the Console 1 MkIII for the entire mix is appealing.

In my view, with double EQ, Compressor layering, the Core Mixing Suite and Softtube strips provide enough channel strip section options, and now UAD, UADx, and Fabfilter are mapped and integrated.

In order to just stay on the Controller and avoid the mouse for the entire mixing process, I'm thinking about creating a Luna template with many aux channels with reverb, delay, and special effect plugins and then setting up custom 6 sends for each channel track based on the instrument/voice type. I could perhaps change the 6 sends per song before mixing, but then still just my fingers on the Console 1 when mixing starts and ends.

Are you guys trying to put all your non-channel strip effects on the aux and use the six send controls per track to keep fingers off mouse and avoid plugin analysis paralysis? And make if more fun.

Personally, no, but it's a great idea.

Yeah it takes a bit of legwork upfront to set up the Luna template and I guess you commit to six send options per each track but six is still a lot and of course stops the analysis/paralysis syndrome.

The bulk of my six will probably just be reverb type - room, plate, hall, ambience - and some standard delay intervals - dotted 1/8 etc.

On modulation say on guitars I am typically committing to a pedal (chorus, flanger, phaser, vibe etc.) just like i do with distortion when I record directly into the Apollo via Dream Pedal so no need to put in Aux's.
